Parent Teacher Organization
Ready to Volunteer?
We are so lucky at Sandpiper to have many wonderful events for our families and volunteer opportunities to help our teachers. These events truly exemplify the sense of community that we all feel here at Sandpiper. Parents tell us all of the time that the sense of "community" at Sandpiper is one of the things that makes our school special. However, this sense of community only happens when we all pitch in to help create it!
We are beginning to plan our events for next school year and need your help! Please consider finding a way to volunteer during the 2019-2020 school year. We know that everyone's schedule is different, so there are volunteer opportunities after school, during school and even from your own home! Big jobs and small jobs- we have something for everyone!
Below are all of the different ways to get involved. At the bottom, you'll find a way to let us know how you'd like to help out. Questions? Just ask! We look forward to working with you next year!
Scholastic Book Fair (Twice a Year, December and May)
Volunteers will be needed to set up and work at our Book Fairs! We need people to help check out purchases, help students find books, setup and take down the Book Fairs. You may volunteer to help at one or both Book Fairs.
Donuts with Dad (December)
Help us to setup and hand out donuts, coffee and juice to our students and their dads before school in Sandpiper Park!
School Supply Kit Sales (Late Winter/Spring)
Are you organized and love school supplies? Then coordinating our school supply kit sales might be for you! The teachers provide their school supply lists in the Spring and you will work with our School Supply Kit company to submit the supply requests and setup the online order link for parents. In August, before school starts, you (and a few other volunteers) will distribute the kits to classrooms before school begins.
On Fridays in the Spring, students have the opportunity to run laps around the field at our school during their lunch recess for our Trekkers program. They will earn key chains for laps completed! It's a great way for students to stay in shape and have fun!
Parent volunteers are needed for 30 minute time slots, only on Fridays, to punch cards for our student runners.
Art Show (Spring)
Our amazing Student Art Show is held in the Spring and showcases the art of EVERY student at Sandpiper! We need several parents to help with this event. We need a team of volunteers to help mat artwork and eventually hang it around the school 1-2 weeks before the Art Show, and take it down after the art show.
Muffins with Mom (May)
Help us to setup and hand out muffins, coffee and juice to our students and their moms before school in Sandpiper Park!
Hospitality (Meals for Teachers)
Three times a year, during the evening conference nights of Parent / Teacher Conference weeks and during Teacher Appreciation Week, we coordinate meals for our teachers. We need someone who can coordinate food donations for these two meals. You will create a sign up genius to find parent volunteers to bring various food items for the meal. You will pick the theme and help with set-up and clean-up for the event.
Copy Cats (Weekly)
Our Copy Cats provide copy services to teachers. We're looking for 5 volunteers who could to commit to 30-45 minutes per week to copy for the teachers. Training on the copier will be provided.
Garden Club (Weekly)
The Sandpiper Garden is amazing but it takes a lot of work! If you are interested in getting your hands dirty and volunteering in our Garden, we'd love to have you! Schedules vary, so let us know if you'd like to volunteer and we will work out time with you!
Glow Party (September)
The Glow Party is our all-school dance party to celebrate the end of Direct Giving Week! We need volunteers to make it happen! We need volunteers to help coordinate decorations, food sales and more!

We need volunteers to help coordinate activities, food, ticket sales, grade level games and more! We also need MANY volunteers on the day of the event (high school and middle school students are also welcome!)
